What is Prophecy?

Some would think that prophecy is akin to telling the future like a fortune teller using astrology charts, palm reading or tarot cards etc.

It is NOT!

In fact the Bible warns strongly against such attempts to tell the future.

Biblical Prophecy is always God ordained and it is He who tells forth the future as He, being Sovereign, knows it to be. It then becomes a revealing by pulling back the curtain to show what is yet to come.

I repeat: He is Sovereign over all. It is God who Himself created Time as a dimension and lives outside and above it. Being outside of Time and being above it, He sees the end from the beginning. Although He is Sovereign He has designed man to have free will, and even though Sovereign, He will not contradict or counteract mankind’s free will. Angelic beings also have been given free will.

There are those that think angels do not have free will. That is untrue. If the angels had no free will, how could a third of them rebel? Satan, we are told was one of the Archangels who held a much desired rank in heaven. Satan was then known as Lucifer which means light-bearer and day-star. However, Pride entered his heart and caused him to lead a third of the angels created by God in a rebellion against God. It was an attempted Coup.

Ezekiel 28: ‘You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

13You were in Eden, the garden of God. Every kind of precious stone adorned you:

ruby, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald.

Your mountings and settings were crafted in gold, prepared on the day of your creation.

14You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for I had ordained you. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the fiery stones.

15From the day you were created you were blameless in your ways— until wickedness was found in you. . . .

17Your heart grew proud of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor;

so I cast you to the earth (BSB)

There is more:

Isaiah 14: 12How you have fallen from heaven, O day star, son of the dawn!

You have been cut down to the ground, O destroyer of nations.

13You said in your heart: “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mount of assembly, in the far reaches of the north.

14I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”

The coup was an absolute failure and Lucifer was cast down to Earth along with all of the rebels. Henceforth he was called Satan.

Luke 10: 18 So He (Jesus)told them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. (BSB)

As you can see,  angelic creatures do have freewill. A third were cast out because by their own free-will they chose to rebel. The remaining two thirds have chosen of their free-will to stay true to God and these continue to this day in the service of God and enjoying the blessings that come with it.

Man also was created to have free will. Without free-will, there is no true love and devotion. God has no  desire for robotic service, He desires love because He loves us first. Our response to Him is of our own free-will. This is why the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” was placed in the garden of Eden. There are those who say God tempted man so it was not fair. No, God does not tempt man:

James 1: 13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone. (BSB)

God placed before Adam and Eve a choice: to  love, obey and trust; or not. Adam and Eve were given everything God could give, power, wisdom, knowledge to govern, everything they needed to rule the Earth and to bring into subjection even Satan and his hoardes . . . they threw it away.

That is why it is laughable today when Governments made of men without God claim they know better than God, and think they can govern without His help to make the World a better place. It didn’t work then, and it doesn’t work now! The bait that Satan put out in the Garden still continues to bait man. Mankind without God, by default is under the control of Satan and his ploys to this day. God alone can save man, if only man will listen.

The desire for rebellion continues in the heart of man since Adam and Eve took the bait laid out by Satan.

Satan and his cohorts cannot be saved from their evil state and are forever doomed. While they have relative freedom here on earth, they are busy trying to make mankind join them in their doom. The beauty of God’s mercy is this, Mankind can be redeemed! God provided Himself as the ultimate sacrifice in human form on the cross to pay the ransom for mankind and redeem humans from death and open the way to eternal life.

Genesis 3: 15And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”(BSB)

That plan revealed in the above verse became the earliest prophecy to bring man hope that although his sin had brought in death, the day would come when the Redeeemer, God Himself would come and open the door to eternal life in a sinfree state in heaven for mankind.

God didn’t have to do it, but such was His love for mankind that He did!

Where does prophecy fit in?

God sitting outside the dimension of Time knows both sides of the coin. Free-will all through out history means some of us choose to serve him and some don’t.

Sitting outside of Time God knows and sees all. As such He sees on the continuum of Time all future as history for it is all before him. On this continuum He sees everything that to us is history, such as the creation of Adam and Eve, their ousting from the Garden due to disobedience, Noah’s Flood, Abraham offering up Isaac, Exodus from Egypt led by Moses  . . . all the way upto the birth of Jesus in the stable, surrounded by animals and the shepherds visit. He sees the wisemen from the East, the Cross, and yes, He raised His Son on Resurrection Morning. God sees the Ascension, when His Son came home to sit at His right hand, and He sees the disciples gazing up at the sky watching their Lord leave. God sees the church develop, go thorugh aweful persecution that only served to make it stronger and spread, thanks to the Holy Spirit who came to dwell in the heart of humans, and to empower mankind starting on the day of Pentecost.

God sees on this same continuum of Time the last two thousand years all around the World. He sees the almost two billion people that name Christ as their Savior today. He sees the ongoing persecution of the Church in many countries, while in other countries it is blessed where the leaders have honored His name.  God has sent the Word out all over the Globe using men and women that have loved His name.

Prophecy fits in this continuum like hand in glove.

The God I know loves mankind enough that He sees the sinful condition of humans and recognizes that Satan, as the prince of the power of the air will do everything in his power to destroy mankind. Left to his own devices mankind would be in the grip of Satan and indeed would annihilate itself. In todays climate when mankind thinks he has the answer to all ills and that he is the master of his own destiny, mankind has been duped into thinking he is his own God.

Nothing could be further from the truth. If God were to remove His Holy Spirit from the Earth, thus removing his presence, Satan would have carte-blanche with mankind.

So, God not only gives the invitation to know Him through Jesus Christ but also gives in His Word a lot of prophetic warnings of things to come, so that mankind is without excuse.

On the continuum of Time God our Father sees a culmination point coming where His own patience with mankind will be exhausted and He will indeed withdraw His protection and will instead pour out His wrath on Earth.

You think things are bad now??!!

You really should pay heed to His warnings because as is said a time is coming of which I can say, “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet!!”

What God says will be fulfilled for He cannot lie. As I said in my last post, there were more than 350 prophecies that were spoken regarding the first coming of Jesus as the suffering Messiah in human form. In addition, countless prophecies were given about Israel and World empires in the Old Testsmant that have already come to be. God’s track record is spotless about the past, why would the future as He sees it not then be fulfilled?!

There are 8 times more prophecies that are in the Bible that speak to this culmination of Time and the lead up to it. Many of them have been fulfilled in my lifetime, and I am watching, along with many, many others as more get fulfilled in record time.

Question arises: why would you not heed the warnings?

There are those that just don’t believe!

Whatever the reason many feel they cannot believe . . .  come it will!!

Not believing, closing your eyes and ears will not stop prophecy from being fulfilled.

It has not been easy for me to pick up this topic although I have taught it for years. But the time to speak out seems to be now.

I hope you will listen, I pray you will pay attention.

I mean you no harm, my friend, only good. Pay attention to the times, listen to the news and learn from His Word. Things will get worse, but there is wonderful hope for the believer. Note also that I only bring the message, I don’t create it. Believe or not, what you choose is still up to you.
