Rev. Sudha Mehta©

When we built our new home in 2001, there was one thing we really wanted to do. We wanted to honor God in our home and make it be Holy Ground. So we decided before the sheet rock went up on the walls, to invite friends from our church (the Stephen Ministers group) and have them bring their Bibles and we supplied the Sharpie pens. We wanted them to write scripture all over the wood framework. It took three days to write verses and whole passages on all the two by four wood panels. passages above the windows and doors. Then we added two huge posters on the Word of God in the Attic facing skyward. Finally a whole bible as a time capsule in the walls. Then we called the builder to come back and finish his work, thus sealing the house in Scripture.
We prayed God’s presence and dedicated the house to Him for His use, and I am here to tell you, our home has been a sanctuary.
Psalm 71: 3 Be my rock of refuge, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress.
His presence dwells here. I dwell in His presence.
Psalm 18:1 I love You, O LORD, my strength. 2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.
Psalm 62: 1 In God alone my soul finds rest; my salvation comes from Him. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
In August 2002 I opened my home office to my clients. All the clients I had been seeing at the office at a local church now started coming to this new office. Three weeks after the move strange happenings convinced me God had indeed graced our home in a special way. I was well experienced in Spiritual Warfare, but never in my wildest had I aspired to a deliverance ministry. Yet here I was suddenly getting immersed in it.
A client I had known for a while, started convulsing and a demon spoke out of her. This was followed by more demons manifesting and identifying. Needless to say they were bound and cast out, but this level of Warfare was new for me!
Soon, some other clients repeated the same behavior. Although I had never sought a deliverance ministry, I was prepared to set a brother or sister free. There was never any question in my head about that. It was my duty in Christ to set the oppressed free. The real question in my mind was, “Why now?”
Sharing with a friend, I voiced my question. I had known these people before, in fact I had a relationship as a counselor with them, but these things did not happen at the office assigned to me at the church. What was different now?
One client walked in quite a bit late for her session, which was quite unlike her; when I joined her in my office, she stood facing the exit door as if resisting the urge to run, and stated that the demons had deterred her from coming. When I questioned her as to who “they” were, “they” identified by giving “their” name as “Legion.” I won’t go into details, but the demon who identified as head of the Legion stated, he could not look at me in the eye for, “You are a God woman.”
There were other manifestations, where demonic entities cursed me out as they exited the individual using expletives I will not write.
When I posited the question “Why now” my friend reminded me of the scripture my house had literally been doused in.
Then one day I was in the kitchen working, I spoke to the Lord. Having nice conversations with my Lord as I work is not unusual. I had a vision. The walls of my house became transparent, and I saw volumes of scripture floating around in the transparent walls all around me. The protection of God is real. The power of God is real. The love of God is real. I felt safe and cocooned in my home.
We have seen healings of all kinds in this house. Broken hearts ad minds are mended, shattered lives have been put together, marriages have been healed. People have found Christ in my office, they have grown in their love for Christ. Classes have been taught and continue to be taught in this home and office. Powerful prayer meetings have happened in this living room. Friendships have developed, sisterhood and brotherhood has blossomed. The body of Christ gets receives strength and learning here.
Our home has been the blessed place where people have been saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit as well. In my office this has happened a number of times.
On yet another level, we have seen plenty of physical healings in this home as well. clients have received healings, well confirmed by medical reports.
One example: one winter, my daughter was unable to get to her home an hour away due to a snow storm. She was at work close to our home, so naturally, she came to spend the night with us. On the phone she said she was coming down with a huge sinus cold.
When she arrived at the door, I caught a strong ugly smell of the sickness. I had her stop right there and prayed and took authority over the sickness, and commanded it to leave. The smell left, she went directly to bed, and woke up with no sign of sickness.
Another example: a client was told the big lump she felt on her knee was most likely cancerous, although biopsy had not even been done yet. She asked for prayer, and I anointed with oil, the lump dissipated and was gone.
Another was told she needed emergency surgery due to a rare infection in one eye. The specialist she saw said if they did not remove the one eye forthwith, the infection would spread and she would lose both eyes. She was prayed for and anointed, and the next day the surgeon found no evidence of any malady. Both eyes were fine. the doctor had no explanation.
I myself have received healings. One afternoon as my husband was getting ready to leave for work, I suddenly lost vision in one eye. It went to a charcoal grey in a split second with just a tiny sliver of light on the top. It was as if I had suddenly developed a third eyelid. The other eye stayed normal. Instead of panicking, I completed what i was doing, then stood against the wall in my kitchen with my hand covering the affected eye and praying in tongues. I claimed my healing trusting in the finished work of Jesus. My husband saw me standing and asked what the matter was. I told him I had no vision except for a thin sliver in the eye. The rest was like smooth charcoal grey. He went to get the anointing oil, but by the time he got back, I was seeing what appeared to be pixel-like flakes falling from my eyes. Not settling for partial, I stood on the word of God, and commanded all of my eye to be clean. It was. No anointing oil was needed. We praised God, and my husband left for work. I did see my eye doctor, who could not really explain. It has never recurred.
On a personal level, my husband and I thrive here. Our children love to come home with their children. Grammy and Grandpa’s home is a welcome place and it gets quite noisy when the kids are here. Other family members and friends are always welcome. This house has known and shown hospitality.
Clients find my office to be a safe sanctuary, family and friends feel the power of God here.
I have seen and heard angels guarding us in our home. yes, this is a place where He dwells, and we dwell in His presence.
I make it a practice to pray over my home and office, as well as all our property. There is no reason to live in fear, for He watches over me and mine.
Psalm 91: 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the LORD, “You are my refuge and fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
The reason for sharing this is very simple: you can have this too! you may not be in a building process, but if you are, consider our experience. If your home is already built, place evidence of Christ in it. However, please remember, if there is little or no relationship with Christ, you will not gain much. Work on building your relationship with Him. Only in building your relationship will you truly experience the safety of a sanctuary. You too can live in a sanctuary.
