Thanksgiving Thoughts . . .

1 Thesslonians 5:12 But we ask you, brothers, to acknowledge those who work diligently among you, who preside over you in the Lord and give you instruction. 13 In love, hold them in highest regard because of their work. Live in peace with one another.
14 And we urge you, brothers, to admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, and be patient with everyone.
15 Make sure that no one repays evil for evil. Always pursue what is good for one another and for all people.
16 Rejoice at all times. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
19 Do not extinguish the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt, 21 but test all things. Hold fast to what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.
20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt, 21 but test all things. Hold fast to what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.(BSB)
Recipe for Christian living. No matter the time or the circumstance!
Do this and you will walk in a blessed life, again “No matter the time or the circumstance!
Circumstances can be bad, sometimes really, really bad! Yet here is what Paul wrote:
1 Corinthians 10: 13 No temptation (trial) has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.(ESV)
Which one of you has never said in your life: “I can’t take it any more!” “I can’t bear up under this trial any more!” or “Oh God, deliver me (or I will die!)” ?
The apostle Paul felt the same way:
2 Corinthians 12: 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (ESV)
I have discovered this grace in my own life. I am also guilty in that I did not discover this grace after beseeching the Lord three times, but only after countless times of whining, crying, pleading, even declaring with great fervor that my Father was being mean and He didn’t understand me. I say it shamefacedly, I even doubted His love for me!
Then finally it hit me, the answer to my misery lay not in my many complaints, but in accepting His grace and thanking Him. Thanks giving was a choice to make, a determined choice! That’s when grace descended upon me unhindered, and . . . lo, and behold, I discovered I could bear up under the trials with His grace! That is when I truly learned that He was my burden bearer and I lay my burdens at His feet!!
End result: Discovery of self in Christ! I am much stronger in Christ when I determine to give thanks in whatever circumstance I find myself in.
Philippians 4: 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.(ESV)
More Discovery: His love and His grace are intended for me to discover how strong I am when in my weakness I welcome His strength to be made perfect in me. As Paul said:
2 Corinthians 12: 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.(ESV)
So, today, determine to give Thanks, choose His grace and His mercy, allow His strength to flow in and through you unhindered, and you will discover, gratitude is an attitude of the heart that enables you to be the best He has made you to be.
Thanksgiving is not a day but a 24 hours per day, 365 days per year for all your life attitude! Live it and you will be blessed!!
Even in these trying prophetic times, as we continue our studies in the prophetic, you will see and receive the wonderful surprises of faith, hope, joy; and you will learn, see and walk in victory until the moment He says: “Come Up Here!” and you will be Home!!!
PS: From time to time I will give an Interlude as we journey through The Prophetic.
