I think I should say more on the topic of Healing.
My son, when he was nine, developed a cluster of Planters warts on his heel. We took him to three physicians, one said freeze it, the next one said burn it; the third said excise with surgery. None offered permanency as a result. My child was in pain, what was I to do?!
I asked my Sunday School class to pray. Then one Thursday the Lord said,”When the child is asleep at night, hold his foot in your hands and pray.” I did! Jesus repeated the same instructions on Friday and Saturday and I complied. I said nothing to anyone. Sunday morning I went to church, the people in the class asked after my son, and I shared what the Lord had me do, but I had not checked his foot on this particular morning.
James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.(NASB)
Upon returning, I asked my son to take his shoe and sock off from that foot. He did. The heel was clean as a baby’s foot! Totally healed!! My son is now in his late-forties. His foot has stayed healed.

This was almost forty-years ago, yet one more example of how the Lord has brought us up to learn of His healing power. In these forty-some years of walking with Him, we have seen healings too innumerable to count. Whether dealing with children or grandchildren . . . little things such as colds, medium size things like kidney stones, or big things such as scary diagnosis from the doctor, we have been there. My family has been on the receiving end of healing miracles. I could tell you of all of them, but I might wear you out.
When asked how I do it, I teach walking in healing as simply a matter of faith. I speak not of faith I churn up by getting emotional, but simple child like faith that just takes Him at His Word already written for us. It is already there in the Bible, nothing new!
There have been others that have come to my classes to learn, I have taught on healing from the Bible. Many have received healing when I have prayed. I will also say I have been taught by the best! In the end you cannot argue with the Word. As I have said before and will say again, that I can either look at human experience or God’s Word. One can be untrue, and God is not the One to lie. If one contradicts the other, the Word must prevail. I do not claim to understand everything, the fact of human suffering remains, we all go through sorrows in our lives. I have my questions for God as you do, and someday I will get to ask them and so will you. In the meanwhile, I am content to let Him have the last Word.
You may ask if I think doctor’s are not necessary! Good question! If that were so, I would not have encouraged my own daughter to become a doctor! She is a great and compassionate doctor. In the Bible, Luke the author of the Book of Luke and the Book of Acts was a doctor as well. He also recorded the most miracles. He obviously was convinced of the power of God! How great is that?!
A doctor who can work hand in hand with the Great Physician is unmatched in excellence for he will be well guided and maintain humility.
Well, what of those doctors that do not know him. All knowledge is revealed by our God. You are able to trust Him more than human hands anyway.
A few days after my youngest grandson was born, my daughter and her husband were given a devastating diagnosis for their newborn. We were told that the child would have to be on a certain medication for all his life, and that without it he would be prone to debilitating illness, and could even lose his life. They said, he would have no muscle strength to live a normal life without medication.
Well, this family went to prayer. I heard from the Lord and was entirely confident that the diagnosis holds no sway, and that my grandson is fine. However, I did go with my daughter to see the specialist in another city. I did so, for my daughter needed more confirmation, she is a doctor after all and she wasn’t going to rest easy. By the time the child was a a few months old we began to see him display great strength. He would surprise everyone by lifting up heavy items. He is growing to be extremely coordinated and great in sports. His baseball coaches are already calling him the possible future golden glove right along with his brother. I just received a picture of him carrying a friend almost as old as him.
Remember the woman in the Bible who had a hemorrhage for 12 years? She spent all her money on doctors with little to show. Then along came the Great Physician!
Matthew 9: 19 And having arisen, Jesus followed him, also His disciples. 20 And behold a woman having had a flux of blood twelve years, having come up behind Him, touched the fringe of His garment. 21 For she was saying within herself, “If only I shall touch His garment, I will be healed.”22 And Jesus, having turned and having seen her said, “Take courage, daughter. Your faith has cured you.” And the woman was cured from that very hour.(BLB)
To the two blind men He said: Matthew 9: 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened.
Whether it was a leper (Mark 1:40-41), or a paralytic (Matthew 9), or a little girl who was dead already (Matthew 9) our Jesus remains the Great Physician.
Matthew 11:5 The blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and good news is preached to the poor.(BSB)

Sometimes He chose one method, and sometimes another. It was His choice. Why did He say “go wash” after He made clay with His own spit and apply it to the blind man’s eyes?
John 9:6 Having said these things, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). Therefore he went and washed, and came seeing.(BLB)
Who does that?? Why with another did He just speak the Word and it was done? His choice!
When He gave authority to the disciples to heal the sick, raise the dead and cast out demons, He did not give them one set method. No formulas. The one constant was the Word and His name. The power was that of the Holy Spirit! That is all.
Yet certain kinds of demons would not obey and come out due to a lack of prayer and fasting. Why? Jesus Himself did not need to fast prior to ousting them, but the disciples did. Why? I can only guess that He being sinless, was always in touch with the power of His Holy Spirit, whereas for them their humanity got in the way.
So, because my humanity gets in the way frequently, I must work to stay in touch with His Holy Spirit. I get sidetracked. I have to work harder than He did to get the same result. When He commanded someone to be healed or a demon to leave, they did, but I find we humans use many more words, and a lot more loud noises than should be necessary.
Once when my daughter was little, she had a nightmare. I decided to try my skill at casting out the devil. So, being new to Pentecost, I mimicked what I had seen. I got loud and louder to make sure I got the enemy’s attention. My daughter cried in fear,”Mommy, you are scaring me!” In that instant I realized it was not my loud voice that would ever scare Satan or his minions. It was these four things: The Blood of Jesus, The Word of God, The Name Jesus, and The Holy Spirit! It wasn’t me at all, it was simply me standing in Christ! Since then I have spoken in only a normal but firm tone to pray for healing or to cast out demons. I also use fewer words than I did then. And it works!
There was never a time, not even one that Jesus spoke or followed a procedure and the end result was an “OOPS! Sorry Buddy, I don’t know what went wrong.” Yet with us, even with much repetition, prayer and fasting, often times the result still ends up in frustration.
Enter the doctor!
I have needed help from doctors as well. However, my first call in the face of symptoms of any kind is not to the doctor, it is to the Great Physician. My first preventative step is to to rebuke the enemy and to cast him away from my family and myself. The first blanket I cover my loved ones and myself with is the blood of Jesus.

I take the everyday steps in taking care of myself as well. Vitamins and Supplements are part of our regular regimen. Exercise is also a part of regular life. I stay active, and I keep my mind active with good things. Spending time in the Word is so much better than wasting it on things that do not improve life. When I have the Word in me, in times of need the Word comes back to rescue me.
In addition, as I stay close to Him, my faith grows. Faith never grows in a vacuum, it must be trained and tried. Just as my body builds muscle with training, so does my faith. Faith not exercised grows weak, and useless. Faith trained on His Word grows stronger.
When I started using my faith, I was surprised with the results. Now, I expect it to work. So healings are common! I do not see a reason to be ill in order to die. I am planning on dying healthy if I should go before the Rapture. My faith says I will.
What about your faith? Are you willing to grow it, you can surely do it! He wants you to!!
Selah!
