He Knows me By Name . . . Part II

Answers!

Rev. Sudha Mehta©

I hope you have taken the time in the previous post to see if any of the reasons for doubting God fit you. If you have no struggle with doubt, it is reason to praise God, and then help others!

For those of you that found one or more reasons that spoke to you, here is His response that I will give in this and the next two posts:

If you happen to be an atheist you have problems bigger than this post is meant to handle. Perhaps, another post another time.

Established facts that we begin with: God is real and He is the Creator!

Jeremiah 32: 17  ‘Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You,(NASB)

If I have any question about anything, at any time, I go to God! Remember, it is always alright to ask questions. You may have been told to never question God. I, on the other hand, always encourage and expect my students to ask questions. It is quite Biblical! No student in any classroom has ever learned much without asking questions. Without questions there is no learning. Without questions there is no seeking, there is no hunt for the truth. IN ANY FIELD, every student who genuinely wishes to learn, must ask questions and seek the Truth.

Jesus said:

Matthew 7: 7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!(BSB)

Ask, if you need answers for anything! Look for answers that only the Holy Spirit can provide in the written Word and otherwise. They will match.

God even goes as far as to say:

Isaiah 1: 18 “Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they will become like wool.(BSB)

It matters not how bad you have been, and truly, it matters not what your life has been like, He puts out an invitation to come and talk with Him, to have a conversation with Him! The Creator asks His creation to converse with Him . . . let that sink in!!

Only caution I will give is that you remember, God knows your heart. If your quest is a genuine one, you need not be concerned, He will answer, and He is not offended. However, if you mock and seek to test Him . . .

1 Corinthians 10: 9 We should not test Christ, as some of them did, and were killed by snakes. 10 And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel. 11 Now these things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.(BSB)

Now there are 6 forms of questions I always teach my students to ask when they study to understand the Bible: 1. Who? 2. What? 3. When? 4. Why? 5. Where? And finally 6. How?

While I use these to teach the Bible in context and for correct understanding, there is no reason why we can not ask these to answer all the personal doubts you have.

  1. Who does He love and care about?
  2. What does He feel toward you?
  3. When did He first love you?
  4. Why does He love you?
  5. Where did He show this love to you?
  6. How does He show His love for you?

Answers :

1 Who does He love and care about?

John 3: 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.(BSB)

Truth is, He loves everyone. The whole world. Even the worst criminals. Think of the richest man/woman you can think of . . . Jesus loves him/her. Think of the poorest man/woman you can think of . . . yes, Jesus not only loves him/her, He loves this person the SAME amount as He loves the rich and any one else in between. It does not mean He loves their wrong actions, but He does love them. As we often say “love the sinner, not the sin!”

2. What does He feel toward you?

James 1:17  Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.(BSB)

Are you part of the World’s population? If so, He feels for you the same LOVE. His LOVE is perfect as He is perfect, He can only love perfectly. Not less, not more . . . the same . . . for ALL.

His love is a Perfect Gift He gives! In Him there is no change . . . He remains constant!

3. When did He first love you?

Jeremiah 1: 4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying: 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you a prophet to the nations.”(BSB)

He doesn’t start loving you when you start believing in Him. He loved you before you even were! Before you were a baby in the flesh, you already were known to Him, He loved you enough that He had a plan for you. The purpose that He had for your life was already set.

Jeremiah 29: 11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to  prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, declares the LORD . . . (BSB)

Psalm 139: 13 For You formed my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.(BSB)

4. Why does He love you?

Ephesians 2: 10 For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them. (HCSB)

As to the why, it is simple. He created you, He formed you in your mother’s womb, and designed a plan for your life. He gave His life for you.

Tell me this – If you invested much of your time and energy and life in something, even in a dream you had, would you not love it, want to take care of it, protect it from harm and do all in your power to make your dream, plan/purpose come to fruition? Would you not want success?

Why would He go through all that He did for you and then be careless to have you fail, flop and live or die miserably?

5. Where did He show this love to you?

1 John 1b But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.(BSB)

1 John 3: 4 Everyone who practices sin practices lawlessness as well. Indeed, sin is lawlessness. 5 But you know that Christ appeared to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin.(BSB)

1 John 4: 9 This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. 10 And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.(BSB)

He showed His perfect love for you always, but the Central Moment in all of time eternal is the moment when He hung on the cross! The CROSS on the hill where Jesus died is the pivot point of all History, where He defeated the enemy of your soul/spirit! His resurrection three days later was the proof positive of His victory won on your behalf, so that even death no longer can defeat you. That, dear one, He did for you and me!

6. How does He show His love for you?

Galatians 4: 3 So also, when we were children, we were enslaved under the basic principles of the world. 4 But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive our adoption as sons.(BSB)

He had no sin of His own for He lived a sinless life. He took your sin (and mine) and carried it on His back and paid the price with a most gruesome death. He showed His love for you on the Cross. He came, lived and died to gain sons/daughters! That is anyone who believes!!

Once you truly believe in your heart, you are His son/daughter:

Galatians 4:  6 And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, you are also an heir through God.(BSB)

Think on this, will you?

I will continue on this topic and give more answers for your doubts for yet one more session. Won’t you come back? I sure hope so . . .
